If I had to associate this city to colors, I definitely would describe it as red, gold and blue.
Red as infinite carpets covering floors of its mosques, red as tea drunk in the characteristic amphora-shaped glasses sitting at the café in Sultanahmet Square.
Blue as Bosphorus and the magnificent decors of the Iznik tiles covering the ancient interiors of the harem.
Gold as mosaics and Koran verses decorating the domes of mosques, gold as the amazing sultans' treasures kept in the museum, that make you dream about old legends and oriental tales.
The combination of these three colors - gold, red and blue - gives me the idea of Istanbul, a stunning city between East and West I visited in the past days. Here is a photographic taste of the major turkish metropol... enjoy these postcards and stay tuned for more!
Se devo associare questa città a dei colori, la descriverei sicuramente come rossa, oro e blu: rossa come gli infiniti tappeti che ricoprono i pavimenti delle sue moschee e come il tè che si beve nei caratteristici bicchierini ad anforetta in vetro sottile, seduti a un caffè sulla piazza di Sultanahmet; blu come il Bosforo e i magnifici decori delle piastrelle Iznik che rivestono gli antichi interni dell'harem; oro come i mosaici e i versetti del Corano che fregiano le cupole delle moschee e come gli stupefacenti tesori dei sultani custoditi nel museo, che fanno sognare di antiche leggende e fiabe orientali.
La combinazione di questi tre colori - oro, rosso e blu - mi dà per associazione Istanbul, una strabiliante città a cavallo tra Oriente e Occidente che ho visitato nei giorni scorsi e di cui vi dò un assaggio fotografico in questo e nei prossimi post che pubblicherò... godetevi queste cartoline dalla città turca e non mancate di farmi sapere le vostre impressioni!
